When To Call An Emergency Dentist

Many people often get confused regarding what they should do when it comes to visiting a dentist in case of a medical emergency. The first thing that needs to be done is to call your nearest emergency dentist as soon as possible.  Relying solely on self-medication or pain killers is not an effective treatment and more problems can arise if not treated properly.

It is important that if you have jaw, mouth, or teeth, pain or soreness, you need to see a dentist as soon as you can.  If these problems go untreated, it can lead to permanent problems for your teeth. Call your nearest emergency dentist as soon as possible rather than relying solely on self-medication or treatment as anything can go wrong if it is not treated properly.

Following the Canadian Dental Association lists the following problems as medical emergencies.

Toothache

The most common dental emergency is toothaches. If you are experiencing a toothache, contact our clinic and explain the symptoms and intensity of your problem. It is better to take medication after talking expert advice. Moreover, avoid using any sort of heating pads or hot water bottles as they are going to worsen your condition rather than healing it.

Broken Tooth

Many falls and accidents can lead to a broken tooth and therefore in such scenario you should contact the dentist as soon as possible. Depending on of the severity of a broken tooth, a filling, root canal, or even a crown may have to be used to properly treat a tooth chip.  Our dentists will assess and analyze your condition before deciding on the correct course of action needed to help provide pain relief and heal your teeth.  Moreover, in cases where the patient suffered through a tooth loss after an accident then it can be put back if it is placed as soon as possible. However in some cases, the tooth may not be able to be saved.

Losing a filling

Many people notice pain and sensitivity when a filling is coming loose. As the pain gets worst, it is possible that the filling is lost.  It is common for fillings to come loose when you are eating. As soon as you notice these different sensations (pain or sensitivity), contact Sun Dentistry and we can assess and fix the filling. Any one of our offices can guide you regarding how to take care of the filling until your treatment.

Infected Tooth

Having an infected tooth can be a very serious medical condition and needs to be treated immediately. Our experienced dentists will assess the condition of your teeth, possibly followed by some X-rays, and create an effective treatment plan.
